A Civil Society activist is urging the three main factions of the SPLM to get united and end the conflict in South Sudan.

After the violence erupted in December 2013, three groups emerged from the ruling party – SPLM, SPLM-IO and SPLM that comprises of the former political detainees.

The Chairperson of the South Sudan civil Society Alliance, Deng Athuai, says it is important that SPLM unite so there is peace in the country.

“That can only happen if the SPLM come together and we are still encouraging and calling upon them to come together as one family and get our people out,” said Mr Athuai.

“That is the mutual point if the people see you united, they will come. But if you don’t, the civil society will continue to insist until the mission is achieved.”

Mr. Athuai also said the Internally Displaced Persons who are sheltering inmany camps across the country want to return to their homes, but they can only return when there is peace.

Civil Society groups are part of the multi- stakeholders’ delegations to the peace talks in the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa.
