13 suspected cases of cholera have been detected at the UN protection of Civilians Cite in Hai Referendum in Juba since late May, the World Health Organization has said.

Two other cases of a mother and a child were admitted at Juba Teaching Hospital.

According to the monthly early disease and surveillance bulletin, WHO says a case was confirmed on the 1st of this month, after a test was carried out on five people.

It says tests for the other nine cases are underway.

WHO says a national cholera taskforce has been activated to ensure adequate preparedness and response.

These include heightened surveillance, risk communication for cholera prevention and control.

Access to safe water and sanitation will also be improved.
