Cholera cases come down

Author : | Published: Monday, July 27, 2015

There is a decrease in the number of cholera cases in Juba, the Minister of Health in Central Equatoria State has said.

Felix Ladu says only 27 cases were admitted in Juba Teaching hospital in the last seven days compared to over 100 more than a week ago.

He said no deaths were registered.

“The total admission right from Juba Teaching Hospital and other areas comes to 27, and there is no …deaths [recorded],” Mr Ladu said.

Cholera is a disease caused by eating or drinking contaminated food or water.

Mr Ladu urged people to maintain proper hygiene and sanitation to prevent the disease from spreading.

More than 1,000 cases, including 34 deaths, have been recorded in Central Equatoria State and Jonglei states since the outbreak was declared in June.
