UNICEF says it has confirmed six cases of measles among the displaced people at the UN camp in Wau.

The head of the field office in Wau, Shafeeq al-Rehman, says the cases were confirmed this week after an official test carried out on the suspects.

“Since then, we’ve been engaging other partners together with the ministry of health to do a vaccination campaign, particularly in the displacement camps where we found these six positive cases,” Mr Rehman told Eye Radio.

He said samples were sent to Juba for examination.

No death has been reported among the six cases, mostly children under 15 years of age.
