The national football team, the Bright Stars is expected to play against Equatorial Guinea today in the Africa Cup of Nations Qualifiers today.

South Sudan is in Group C of the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualification tournament of the 13 groups to decide the teams which qualify for the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations finals tournament

Group C also consists of Mali, Equatorial Guinea and Benin.

The teams play against each other home-and-away in a round-robin format, between June 2015 and September 2016.

The group winners qualify for the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations, while the runners-up also qualify if they are one of the two runners-up with the best records.

The match will take place in the capital, Malabo, this evening.
