Ateny takes part in continental talks on democracy and public trust at AU summit

The Minister of Information, Ateny Wek Ateny, has joined fellow African ministers in discussions on democracy and the restoration of public trust across the continent on the sidelines of the ongoing African Union Summit.

According to a statement from the Ministry of Information, Communication, Technology and Postal Services, the meeting brought together over ten ministers from around Africa, including Foreign Affairs, ICT, development and governance experts.

The event, which is being co-hosted by the Federal Republic of Nigeria and the United Nations Development Programme’s Bureau for Africa, discussed democracy, governance and development challenges facing the continent.

The discussions come as the African Union Summit opened in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, bringing together leaders from across the continent to discuss matters facing Africa.

The event, which began on Wednesday 11 February, will run to Sunday 15 February, 2026.
