Rumbek authorities have imposed curfew in an effort to curb a rise in crime rates in and outside the Western Lakes state capital.

There have been reports of killing along major highways leading to the town.

Daniel Dut Makuet, the state information minister, told Eye Radio that those who violate the order will be punished accordingly.

“If you are suspected of violating the order itself, then you will be investigated and then detained,” Mr Dut warned.

“If found you are not a threat, then you will be released the following morning.”
