Author : | Published: Monday, April 13, 2015

South Sudan together with other member countries of IGAD are observing the Sudanese presidential and parliamentary elections which started today.

Other countries positioned to oversee the process are Djibouti, Ethiopia, Kenya, Somalia and Uganda.

The deployment was made based on the invitation of the National Election Commission of Sudan.

In a statement issued on Saturday, IGAD says the team went to Khartoum on the 6th of this month to do ground work for the election process.

It wished that “the election is conducted in a peaceful and transparent manner and in full conformity with the laws and regulations of Sudan as well as universally accepted principles of conduct of election”.

The IGAD Observers will closely monitor the poll process and counting and tallying stages of votes.
