Governor Rizik orders review of NGO mandates

Author : | Published: Monday, March 30, 2015

The Governor of Western Bhar al-Ghazal has directed for the review of the mandates of Non-Governmental Organizations operating in the state.

Rizik Zecharia Hassan says some of the NGOs and civil societies are involved in politics while others are operating as business entities.

“Instead of collaborating as partners in supporting the state’s development,” Mr Rizk says, they are “involving
in political games.”

Others are “working as business venture instate of working toward delivery of needs
to the citizens as per their mandates,” he adds.

Mr Rizik says reviewing their mandates will ensure that they concentrate on development activities as government partners.

The review is expected to cover 152 NGOs and civil societies operating in the state.

Mr Rizik has instructed the Ministry of Gender, Social Welfare
and Development to immediately implement the directive.

He gave the instruction during a visit to the ministry in Wau town this morning.
