At least nine people were killed in communal clashes between Rumbek East and Rumbek Central Counties this morning, Lakes state government official has said.

The Acting Minister of Information, Jok Ayom, says the fighting erupted after one person was killed in a revenge attack last night.

He says 12 other people were wounded in the incident. Mr. Ayom told Eye Radio that no suspects have been arrested yet.

“A person from Dhiei in the cattle camp shot dead a person from Panyon this morning. The two groups assembled and clashed again,” he said.

Mr. Ayom urged the people of Lakes state to avoid revenge killings and follow legal procedures to tackle problems.
