18 new cases of cholera were recorded in Juba yesterday, according to the Minister of Health in Central Equatoria State.

Felix Ladu says the new admissions show there is a decrease in the cases since the beginning of the outbreak.

“Most of these [patients] were brought from Magateen, Konyo-konyo, and Referendum area, Gurei, Jebel Dinka; Tongping (the worst), Kor William, Giada, Bojur area across the river, Amarat, Newsite, and Tombura Bridge,” Mr Ladu said.

Mr. Lodu says they are extending treatment centers in all parts of Juba.

“We have finished the construction; now, cases from Mangaten, Gudele and the other areas can be rushed there because most of these people coming to Juba die on the way,” he added.

He says two suspected cases have been identified in Kajo-Keji and Yei.

UNICEF says more than 700 cases and 32 deaths have so far been recorded in Juba and Bor.
