52 Sports-children to represent RSS in Moshi games

52 children from diverse social backgrounds across South Sudan will travel to Tanzania to participate in the East African Cup next week.

They will be accompanied by eight officials.

The trip is being facilitated by the Norwegian People’s Aid, NPA.

It is the first time the nation is taking part in the competition.

According to officials, the tournament runs from 22nd to 29th of this month in Moshi Tanzania, with 11 countries including Kenya, Uganda, Zimbabwe Mozambique and Norway taking part among others.

The basketball team has cancelled its trip to Egypt after being left out of the draws for the Alexandria tournament.

The draws for the competition were made yesterday and with the team not yet in Egypt, it was left out of the draws.

A local engineering company Wonkuch contractor’s Ltd donated 30,000 SSP to facilitate the trip, and the basketball federation now says they will keep the fund for a regional event that will take place in September in Uganda.

The Alexandria tournament is organized to mark the 50th anniversary for the North African side, and will kick off today.
