The SPLM says the first team of the former SPLM Political detainees will arrive in Juba next week.

This follows the recent continuation of the meeting in Pretoria, South Africa, to reunify the party.

Addressing the media in Juba this afternoon, the SPLM Acting Secretary General Dr. Ann Itto said the team will be accompanied by the Vice Chairman of ANC and the Secretary General of CCM.

“The delegation of the former detainees led by Deng Alor, will arrive here on the first of June,” Dr Itto told reporters.

Dr Ann said the SPLM Political Bureau has agreed to allow security from South Africa to give protection to the men.

“Up to 60 security personnel will come to Juba and give the protection that is required or that was demanded by the former political detainees.”

The team is composed of Deng Alor as the head of the delegation, John Luk Jok, Cirino Hiteng, Kosti Manibe and Madut Biar.

The group will remain in South Sudan for the implementation of the SPLM reunification agreement.
