A five day-youth peace conference has kicked off in Torit, capital of Eastern Equatoria State, under the theme: “Unity in Diversity”.

Participants to the conference are from the eight counties of the state. They are meeting to advocate for peace, unity and development of their State.

The conference is organized by the State Ministry of Social Development, and it aims at bridging the gap amongst the youth of the State.

The Deputy Governor of the State, Jerome Gama Surur, who opened the conference, urged the youth to desist from tribalism, and urge them to unite for the common good of the state.

Honorable Gama urged the youth to stop involvement in cattle raiding and road ambushes, but they should join hand with the government in the development of their state and deliver services to the citizens.

He urged the youth who have access to internet not to misuse it, because there are some youth who use the internet for tarnishing the image of the government.
