Over 100 families have been affected by the ongoing demolition of Hai Gonia, near the ministries complex in Juba.

The demolition is being carried out by the government of Central Equatoria State.

It’s not clear why the authorities are demolishing the structures now but the victims say the land has been given to a foreign mission.

“This demolition is affecting more than 100 families here. The residents are complaining that this demolition is going to affect them so much because the rainy season has started,” reported Eye Radio’s, Alhadi Awari.

Efforts to reach the demolition office for comment were unsuccessful.

“When I called the chairperson for demolition committee, he said he was in a meeting and he directed me to talk to the people in the field here. But they refused to talk to the media,” he added.
