A police officer who was wounded by alleged robbers last night in Gudele residential area has died.

Moses Joseph was responding to a distress call when armed men shot him in the leg.

He was taken to Juba Teaching Hospital where he died a few hours later.

Police Spokesperson Colonel James Monday described the incident to Eye Radio.

Colonel Monday said the death of Officer Moses Joseph will not stop the police from fighting crime in Juba.

“The fight with the criminals in Juba, which has intensified, will continue,” said Col Monday.

“The Police have been supported by the organized forces in Juba – the Prison, the Wildlife, the Fire Brigade and the Army – all have supported the efforts.”

The police have reported increased crime in Juba, ranging from violent robberies to killing.
