The South Sudan football Association Chairman has urged the youth serving in the army, to actively take part in sports, to promote unity in the country.

Shebour Gouch says sports can be used as a powerful tool in promoting unity.

“We need to teach the sport culture to youths and sons of South Sudan, we want the youth who are holding AK47s to engage in sports,” Mr Gouch said.

He said South Sudan football Association will preach the message of peace everywhere, including the UNMISS Protection of civilians’ site, through sport.

“For you who are there, I want to tell you that your mission is anywhere, even in UNMISS camp,” he added.

Mr. Gouch was speaking during graduation ceremony of over 50 football coaches, who were trained by FIFA development for 5 days in Juba.
