Atleast more than twenty people have been killed after cattle traders clashed with armed people in Camp 15 area of Kapoeta state.

According to some of the traders, 300 herds of cattle were taken in the incident that took place on Wednesday morning in Kimotong County and Kidepo area.

The traders reported the matter to the office of the governor of Kapoeta State, Luois Lobong, demanding for the arrests of the attackers and the return of their cattle.

“They [attackers] shot people and took cattle. People ran after them but they fled into residential areas within Kapoeta [town]. For sure, we want the government to return the cattle that belongs to these civilian traders,” said one of the trader.

Governor Lobong urged the traders to remain patient as the authorities investigate the incident.

“My message to the owners of the bulls is, they have to give time to the government to identify the culprits and where they are. Then the government will organize on how to apprehend these culprits.”
