Yei power outage ends

Author : | Published: Thursday, August 6, 2015

The Yei Electricity Corporation in Central Equatoria State has resumed power supply after a blackout of nearly one week.

The power facility faced shortage of fuel for the generators. This paralyzed business activities in the border town, including health facilities.

The company’s general manager, Lawrence Malish, says it has now secured about 30,000 litters of diesel.

He told Eye Radio that the fuel in stock could last for two weeks.

“Before it runs out, we will make all efforts to get another fuel,” he said.

Power supply is rationed in the town. “The rationing hours will still remain the same; from morning hours up to 12PM and from 2PM to 11PM.”

The Yei electric power plant was established in 2008 with support from the United States government.
