Yei fishing industry affected by lack of funds

The department of animal resources and fisheries in Yei River County says it lacks funds to invest in its fishing industry.

It says this has mad the industry not to be properly utilized.

The department’s assistant commissioner, Milton Ismail, says the sector can be an alternative to generate revenue to the country’s economy.

He says many fish farmers are leaving the sector due to lack of money; there are plenty of water sources and a favorable climate.

“Our land is suitable for fish farming. We are inviting the investors to come and invest on fishing,” Mr Ismail told Eye Radio.

There over 40 fish farming cooperative farmers in Mugwo Payam of Yei River County.
