Yau Yau will not head of Greater Pibor Administrative Unit

General David Yau, Yau says he will not be the head of Greater Pibor Administrative Unit.

He says he will leave the job to someone else.

In May, the government and the South Sudan Democratic Movement, Cobra-Faction, signed a final peace agreement in Addis Ababa.

The agreement creates an administrative Unit in Greater Pibor area, which makes it autonomous from the Jonglei state.

Speaking on Eye Radio’s Dawn show this morning, Yau Yau said the people of Greater Pibor will chose for themselves who will be their chief administrator. But he will not put himself forward.

“Those who are serving in the army are the same with those who are in civil service,” said Mr Yau Yau. “No difference. I will do whatever is given to me by the people; I will not refuse.”

‘Don’t take the step I took’

Gen Yau Yau also urged the people of South Sudan not to encourage armed rebellion in the country. He believes rebellion will destroy the country.

“I will not encourage our brothers, the South Sudanese, to take the step I took to get what they want because it is not easy,” he added.

General Yau Yau said nobody including himself should be blamed for the people who were killed during his war with the government over the three years.

After his failed bid for the state assembly in 2010 general elections, Yau Yau accused the SPLM of fraud and voter intimidation.

He accepted the presidential pardon recently after reneging several times.
