A senior judge of the High Court in Warrap state is said to have requested the judiciary to move him to Eastern Equatoria state over security concerns.

Judge Bol Lul Woung reportedly says he is unable to execute his duties in Warrap state due to the animosity created by the current crisis among the people.

The Acting Speaker of the Eastern Equatoria state Legislative Assembly, Honorable Paul Napwon, told the assembly that Judge Bol Lul will replace Judge Abraham Majur in the state’s High Court.

“I would like to inform you that Abraham Majur Laat who is the President of the High Court has again been tasked to go to another state,” Hon Napwon explained.

“He has been forced willingly to go to Warrap state to replace somebody called Bol Lul who is the President of the High Court in Warrap state.

“Because of the nature of conflict, we have today Bol Lul requested the national government that he wants to be transferred because of his security, so he chose Eastern Equatoria.”

However, Hon Napwon couldn’t reveal the exact root cause of Judge Bol’s fears.

Abraham Majur Laat who will now replace Bol Lul in Warrap state said he has no reservation over the changes.

He said the judicial challenges in Eastern Equatoria and Warrap state are similar.

“You know for the judge, we are subject to go to any place,” he said. “The experience in Eastern Equatoria is also like in other state that experience problem like cattle rustling, killings and normal crimes, we are able to handle the normal cases; both criminal and civil.”
