The Council of States will have to approve the agreement on the formation of Greater Pibor Administration Area before the President decrees it, an official has said.

The Deputy Chairperson of the Peace Committee at the Council of States said the President will submit the agreement to the members of the council for endorsement.

Hon. Victor Kpiawandu told Eye Radio that Council of States is expected to approve the agreement within a month.

“Within the 30 days, we are expecting the President to send the document to the Council of States where it will be passed by the Council of States members and taken back to the President to be signed into law,” said Hon Kpiawandu.

“Immediately upon signature of the document by the President, he will decree the creation of the administrative area and at the same time the appointment of the Chief Administrative Area.”

Parts of the agreement include the appointment of two deputies for the Chief Administrator.

The Administrator will have the same powers to that of a state governor.
