Warrap: Journalists receive training on rights reporting

Author : | Published: Monday, August 25, 2014

Journalists working in Warrap State have been trained on reporting of human rights violations.

The bill of rights, child rights and the land act were the main focus of the training.

The two-day training was organized in the state capital, Kuajok, by the state Ministry of Information and the World Vision.

Journalists should raise awareness about local problems to help people make informed decisions, said Bona Beek Akook, Director of Warrap State Radio and Television.

He said the media has strong role in governance everywhere in the world, and that people expect the media to make awareness on human rights.

Mr. Beek urged the World Vision to provide more training to journalists so that they can report on human rights violations and the rule of law.
