The Eastern Equatoria State government says victims of a clash between civilians and army recruits at Owiny ki-bul this week will be compensated.

One recruit was killed, and more than thirty people were injured on both sides.

The fighting started between one recruit and a civilian at a bar. But other recruits and civilians took sides, resulting into shooting and burning of more than 100 huts.

The minister of local government and the acting minister of information, Lokai Iko, told Eye Radio that the state is contacting NGOs to assist the families affected by the fighting.

He says Governor Louis Lobang has ordered the arrest of the suspects involved in the incident. Mr Lobong has apologized for the damages on the community.
