Unregistered water companies warned

The Bureau of Standards has cautioned that it will close down water companies that have not registered or do not comply with its standards.

Mary Gordon, Executive Director of the Bureau of Standards, says they have registered 25 water companies, but only 18 of them attended regular management meetings.

Madam Gordon told Eye Radio’s Dawn program this morning that they will close down water companies that don’t comply with the regulations issued by the Bureau of Standards.

“If they don’t use all standards we have, we can either close the company or we will not give them the trade mark that they can use in the markets,” she warned.

Madam Gordon said there are many water companies operating in Juba and they have not registered.

She added that most of these companies do not follow the regulations of the Bureau of Standards.
