Two little sisters burnt to death in Ezo County of Western Equatoria State after fire gutted a shelter they were trapped inside on Wednesday.

Local authorities identified the deceased minors as 6-year-old Silvana Peter and 3-year-old Grace Peter from the same family.

They were burnt after a locally-made kitchen they were playing beneath, caught fire in Hai Abuna – a kilometer away from Ezo town.

Abel Sudani, the Commissioner of Ezo said the mother left the children alone at home and go to fetch water.

“Their mother left them at home and she went to fetch water somewhere. On her way back home she found that the house was set on fire and she did not find her children outside,” the commissioner said.

Mr. Sudani said upon the return, the mother found that only one of her children survived.

“Unfortunately, there were three inside the older one run away and the two were inside. The one who was outside told the mother that the siblings are there, and the fire is destroying them.”

Commissioner Sudani said the fire might have started inside the kitchen.
