Security forces in Western Equatoria State have arrested two suspects in connection with the killing of a trader in Yambio last week, a state official said.

On Wednesday, August 30, a 53-year-old trader was shot dead by unidentified armed men in the state capital Yambio by alleged armed men.

The victim Justine Agbiamamu was shot in Kidi Payam while on his motorcycle.

According to the press secretary in the office of Governor Alex Digi, security personnel tracked and arrested two suspects in connection to the trader’s killing.

He adds that an investigation is ongoing to determine more facts before the suspects are produced in court.

“There was security tracking to make sure that the people who involved in the killing of this businesses man are apprehended,” Digi told Eye Radio on Sunday.

“So, based on that, the security personnel here in Yambio managed to arrest two suspects and they are under custody, waiting for trial. When they are going to be produced in court, these two suspects are soldiers from SSPDF division 6 here in Yambio.”

The SSPDF headquarters in Juba is yet to comment on the allegations that the suspects are members of the army.
