The Presidential Advisor on Security Affairs has directed the technical committee to ensure that the remaining unified forces to move to training camps within three weeks to kick-start the second phase of the graduation of forces.

Tut Gatluak Manime made the call during the graduation of 3,000 peace soldiers in Unity Stat capital Bentiu on Saturday.

The forces comprising police officers, prison officers and civil defense personnel are the last batch of the 50,000 troops that have been graduating since August 2022.

The 2018 peace agreement provides for training, graduation, and the deployment of 83, 000 unified forces from the various peace parties across the country.

The unified forces from Unity State graduated without firearms.

Speaking during the graduation ceremony, the Presidential Advisor on Security Affairs said the force will be deployed to conflict hot-spot areas across the country.

Tut Gatluak said the second phase of the graduation will start in 20 days.

“The graduation of the unified forces Today’ indicates the determination of the presidency in implementing the peace agreement,” Gatluak said.

“We are now directing the security committees to implement the decision of the President of the Republic to enter the second batch of forces into training camps within twenty days.”

“There is no reason for the second batch to be late in entering the training camps Next week, the Presidency will celebrate the graduating of the forces. Likewise, the president and his deputies will deal with all pending issues in the coming week.”

In October last year, the presidency recommended the deployment of recently graduated forces mainly to conflict-affected areas in the country.
