The Turkish government has donated 75,000 military uniforms to the unified forces in South Sudan, army spokesperson has said.

The donation of military wears comes months after the peace parties graduated 52,000 unified forces meant to restore security throughout the transitional period.

However, the unified forces are yet to be deployed across the country.

Speaking to Eye Radio on Friday morning, SSPDF Spokesperson Gen. Lul Ruai Koang confirmed the Turkish in-kind donation.

The 75,000 military uniforms make the first consignment, and was delivered to the NTC Chairperson Tut Gatluak in a ceremony at Juba International Airport on Thursday.

He says the uniforms are more than enough for the first batch of the unified forces.

“It was a donation to the necessary unified forces that was graduated last year, but of course from the figure the 75,000 is more than enough for the first batch, because the first batch was around 52,000 so we have more than enough for the first batch.”

According to 2018 peace agreement, parties must train and graduate an 83,000 strong unified force to take command of security during the transitional period until elections are held.
