WHO targets about 35, 000 children for vaccination

UNICEF and the World Health Organization are targeting up to 35,000 children below five years in a vaccination campaign against measles in the UN camp in Bentiu.

 Cases of the contagious disease have been reported within the camp, where more than 50,000 have sought shelter.

UNICEF Consultant, Okot Joseph, says the five-day campaign will be launched tomorrow.

He said: ‘‘We had a case of measles which has been reported in Bentiu POC. The taskforce is planning to do integrated measles campaign starting on Tuesday to Saturday. We are planned for 22-30 vaccination teams who will carry out this exercise.”
