Do not target women and children – MSF

Author : | Published: Wednesday, May 13, 2015

The medical charity organization, MSF, has appealed to the warring parties not to target women and children during clashes.

It said the two sides should also refrain from attacking humanitarian aid workers delivering assistance to the displaced people.

“With the conflict, I would ask all parties to respect international humanitarian law; do not target women. Do not target children and do not target medical staff or medical facilities,” Paul Critchley, MSF Head of Mission, told the Sundown show.

The agency is one of the humanitarian groups that have pulled out from Unity State due to the renewed fighting.

More than 300,000 people have been displaced and are in dire need of relief aid, especially food and shelter.

“With the conflicts at the moment, I cannot say when we will be able to return,” Mr Critchley added.
