The South Sudan National Movement for Change has accused the Governor of Central Equatoria of mistreating and humiliating its Chairperson, Moro Genesio, and planning to have him sacked as the State Minister of Local Government and Law Enforcement, an allegation the state SPLM secretariat denies.

In a letter dated 19th of September, addressed to Chairperson SSOA and shared with the Presidency, the National Movement for Change said Governor Emmanuel Adil has made several unwarranted requests for the removal of Minister Genesio.

“We have reliably been informed about the Governor’s renewed demand for the Vice President of the Republic and Chair of the Service Cluster to yield to the Governor’s demand for the removal of our Chairperson. As a constituent member of SSOA,

“We are concerned and feel that this persistent determination to undermine opposition leaders is completely against the spirit of the agreement that requires friendly working relationship amongst the peace parties,” the Statement partially read.

According to the party, the State Local Government Minister has faced collaborative administrative challenges, restriction of movement to the counties, and life-threatening situations as he carried out government missions.

The SSOA constituent party also said the Minister’s role is often assigned to some state Advisors and Ministers Contrary to the Local Government Act 2009.

SSNMC Concern-2

In response, the Central Equatoria State SPLM Secretariat said, the State government is of all parties to the R-ARCSS.

It called on the opposition party to adhere to the requirement of the peace agreement that call for collegial engagement and discussion of crucial matters in the cabinet sitting.

It also advises the National Movement for Change to seek guidance outside social networks, describing the allegations as negative campaigns and smearing of the state government’s image.
