Skin disease breaks out in WBGS main prison

Author : | Published: Thursday, April 2, 2015

Prisons authorities in Western Bahr El Ghazal State say there has been an outbreak of a skin disease in the Central Prison in Wau.

The Western Bahr El Ghazal State Director of prisons, Anthony Majok Makuei, told Eye Radio that the outbreak was caused by overcrowding.

“Anthony says the Central prison was only meant to accommodate a number of 200 prisoners from the whole Greater Bahr El Ghazal region when it was built in in 1984, but now it contains 500 to 700 people.” Our reporter from Wau, Deng Dimo said.

“He said the prison currently contains 489 prisoners with lack of adequate facilities. And other services were also not enough for such a high number of prisoners.”
