Police in Juba have arrested six University of Juba students for allegedly forging bank deposit receipts of school fees.

The Police Spokesperson Major General Daniel Justin said four of the suspects were arrested last week and two others on Sunday.

They were caught by the university administration after presenting fake receipts.

General Justin said the students are currently under investigations at the Malakia police station in Juba.

“The case is still under investigation, I will only confirm that yes we have arrested like six students connected with a sort of forgery,” he said.

“Of course, these days you know in many universities and schools, the fees are remitted to the banks, and then you bring the receipt to the university or to the school to prove that you have paid your fees.”

“So, the communication is connected in that area because the university got some receipts which are not genuine from the banks, so we are still investigating.”

General Daniel Justin could not give more details about the suspects.
