WAU, June 16, 2026 (Eye Radio) – At least seven people were killed, 16 others injured, and 82 head of cattle stolen in two separate security incidents reported in Western Bahr el Ghazal State over the weekend, according to state police authorities.
The incidents, according to Wau-based Voice of Hope, occurred in Boro Medina of Raja County and Manyang area of Jur River County on June 13 and 14, respectively.
Speaking to Wau-based Voice of Hope Radio, Western Bahr el Ghazal State Police Spokesperson Lt. Col. Santino Udol Mayen said a motorcycle rider was allegedly attacked and stabbed by passengers in Boro Medina on Saturday, June 13.
“The bodaboda rider was allegedly attacked and stabbed by passengers and later died while being transported to hospital,” Lt. Col. Udol Mayen said.
He added that 16 people, including 15 Sudanese nationals and two South Sudanese nationals, sustained injuries in connection with the incident. One of the injured Sudanese nationals later died on Monday, bringing the death toll from the attack to two.
In a separate incident on Sunday, June 14, armed cattle raiders attacked cattle camps at Thiik Marol and Mabior Abul in Manyang area of Jur River County.
According to Lt. Col. Udol Mayen, 82 head of cattle were stolen during the raid, while five members of the Marial Wau community were killed.
“Eighty-two head of cattle were stolen during the attack, while five members of the Marial Wau community lost their lives,” he said.
The police spokesperson said security forces have since been deployed to the affected areas and investigations are underway, with efforts continuing to apprehend those responsible.
He reiterated the commitment of the state police to protect lives and property and urged residents to remain calm and cooperate with security agencies by providing information that could assist ongoing investigations.
Police authorities said investigations into both incidents are ongoing and assured the public that security forces are working to bring the perpetrators to justice.
