Row brews over Jonglei parliamentary seats

Author : | Published: Wednesday, March 16, 2016

A dispute has started over representation in the new state parliament.

The 21 seats in the assembly have been divided among the three states, with two seats for Duk, six for Twic East and 12 for Bor County.

Members of the Duk community say they have been under-represented. However, they have not specified the number of lawmakers that should represent them in the assembly.

Jonglei Government Secretary General, Mawut Achiek Guarak, said the complaint has been taken to the state chairperson of the SPLM, Kuol Manyang Juuk.
