Vice President Hussein Abdalbaggi Ayii is touring Western Bahr el Ghazal, Warrap and Northern Bahr el Ghazal states to assess service delivery, with a particular focus on ongoing road rehabilitation projects linking the three neighboring states.
According to Warrap State Information Minister Wol Mayom, the visit is aimed at evaluating progress on road works designed to improve transportation and access to basic services in the region.
The rehabilitation project, supervised by the National Minister of Roads and Bridges, Lam Both, involves laying murram on key road sections that had become difficult to use due to poor conditions.
Minister Mayom said the Vice President’s tour is focused on inspecting road infrastructure connecting Western Bahr el Ghazal, Warrap and Northern Bahr el Ghazal states.
He said the government launched the rehabilitation works after road users experienced significant difficulties travelling along the routes, which serve as vital links between the three states.
As Chairperson of the Service Cluster, Vice President Abdalbaggi is assessing the progress of the road projects and the delivery of other public services during the tour.
Wol said he has already visited Western Bahr el Ghazal and Warrap states and is currently in Aweil, Northern Bahr el Ghazal State.
“His Excellency, Hussein Akol, the Vice President of Service Cluster, is in Warrap State and currently his main visit to the three states, Western Bahr Gazal, Warrap and Northern Bhar Gazal, is to assess the service delivery, particularly on the road infrastructure that is connecting Western Bhar Gazal, Warrap State and Northern Bhar Gazal.” Wol said
Mayom said the Vice President’s visit is line with the ongoing roads rehabilitation being supervised by the Minister of Roads and Bridges.
“And it is in line with the ongoing construction being supervised by the National Minister of Roads and bridges, Honorable Lam Both. There is ongoing road rehabilitation because the passage between these facilities a few months ago was too difficult. Therefore, as the concerned Minister, we have resumed the rehabilitation, putting the Maram on the two vital roads.” Mayom stated
The rehabilitation of the roads is expected to improve mobility, boost trade and strengthen socio-economic ties among the three neighboring states.
