An albino buffalo nicknamed “Donald Trump” becomes a local attraction in Bangladesh before its sacrifice during Eid al-Adha.

An albino buffalo nicknamed “Donald Trump” has been returned to its farm after Bangladeshi authorities intervened to stop its planned sacrifice during the Eid-ul-Azha holiday, local media reported on Wednesday.

The buffalo, raised at a farm near the capital Dhaka, gained widespread attention in recent weeks because of its blond hair and resemblance to US President Donald Trump’s hairstyle.

Crowds reportedly gathered daily to take pictures of the nearly 700-kilogram animal after it went viral on social media and international news platforms.

The buffalo had already been sold to a buyer for sacrifice during Eid-ul-Azha, a major Muslim holiday celebrated in Bangladesh.

However, local broadcaster Channel 24 reported that the Home Ministry directed authorities to stop the slaughter after the animal’s popularity spread across the country.

The buffalo was later returned to the farm where it was raised.

Officials did not publicly explain the reason for the intervention.

Farm owner Ziauddin Mridha said the animal was named “Donald Trump” by his younger brother because of the pale tuft of hair on its forehead.

He described the buffalo as calm and said albino buffaloes are rare in Bangladesh, where most buffaloes are dark-skinned.

The animal became one of the country’s most talked-about attractions, with visitors traveling from different areas to see it before the holiday.

Viral sacrificial animals with celebrity-inspired names have increasingly become part of Bangladesh’s Eid cattle market culture in recent years.
