Revenge killings: Lakes state government vows to act.

Lakes state government has condemned a new wave of revenge killings in the state – and called on civilians to seek justice through the legal courts.

“For the past two months, we have now about five people who have been killed in the same way in cold blood,” State Minister of information, Dut Makoi told Eye Radio. “There is this tradition here in the area if your person is killed, you will wait for some time and if the law does not take its course you will take the law into your hand.”

Mister Makoi said the state government has introduced new measures of addressing issues of killing in the state.

“We are trying to pay blood compensation to different sections,” he said. “We have organized forces together with SPLA as a joint force to monitor all cattle camps and towns, and we are advising the judiciary to enhance these trials.”

Mister Makoi said that to maintain law and order,  Governor Matur Chut as introduced tough new measures to curb cattle raiding and highway robberies in Lakes state.
