A new report by the media organization, Internews, says the media inSouth Sudan still faces a lack of reliable data to serve all the information needs of the people.

It says this study is the first detailed analysis of the media landscape since the conflict erupted in the country in December 2013.

The survey states that although the media has made some progress in the last few years, it is still faced with a quickly changing environment, and a population that lacks access to reliable and trustworthy information.

In the report, Internews says the survey collected data on media usage from 3,710 respondents across the country.

It says the study collected information on media access and consumption to inform the strategies and programming of media houses and media initiatives.

Internews says the security situation prevents coverage of the country on a fully national basis.

Despite the challenge, Internews says the media landscape in the country provides significant opportunities for growth.
