Singer Queen Zee has criticized the underdevelopment of South Sudan music where there is no copyright laws in the country.

Every country around the world has its own music industry and its own copyright system, but in South Sudan, there are no existing laws protecting the copyrights of singers.

Queen Zee said the music industry faces a huge challenge with copyright when it comes to lyrics.

The legendary singer said she would have been a millionaire through copyright infringement lawsuits, if there were copyright protection in South Sudan after suing artists who steal other people’s songs or lyrics.

The Singer was speaking on the Soundtrack show Eye Radio Wednesday afternoon.

“We still don’t have copyright here in country. if we had that copyright maybe Kola can sue me, maybe I can take someone to court but at the moment we are still gambling and we don’t have a copyright.”

“If we had copyright, I was going to become the richest because I would sue someone in court for taking my song and translating it and sang and you know talent is talent.”

Copyright is a type of intellectual property that protects original works of authorship as soon as an author fixes the work in a tangible form of expression.
