President Salva Kiir directed the state governors to discuss possible ways to speed up the implementation of the peace road map.

Kiir made the statement during the opening of the sixth governors’ forum in Juba earlier today.

“The discussions you will be holding in the next few days will certainly touch the difficult topics on how to fast-track the implementation of the road map 2022,” said the Head-of-state.

He added: “My hope is that your deliberation will be beneficial to the process of putting our country permanently to the path of peace.”

The week-long forum is being held under the theme: “Accelerating the implementation of the Revitalized Peace Agreement in accordance with the road map 2022.”

It brings together governors of the ten states and heads of the three administrative areas.

First Vice President, Dr Riek Machar, and four Vice Presidents attended the onset of the forum.

Others were national ministers, UN representatives, and members of the diplomatic corps.

Addressing the occasion, President Salva Kiir told the governors to deliberate on topics aimed at fast-tracking the implementation of the peace road map.

He also expressed hope that the outcome of the forum will put South Sudan on a permanent path of peace.
