Police net suspected thieves, recover 25 phones

The Police in Juba have apprehended suspects and recovered 25 mobile phones that were stolen from a shop in the Konyo-Konyo market early this month.

According to police spokesperson Maj General Daniel Justin, the incident happened last week, on January 5th.

General Justin said the Department of Criminal Investigation arrested the burglars are suspected to have run away with 39 mobile phones.

He revealed that the five prime suspects reportedly entered the shop by cutting a hole in the roof of the shop.

However, the police tracked the culprits and managed to recover 25 out of 39 phones.

“In the framework of combating crime, the Investigation Division was able to recover more than 25 out of 39 mobile phones that were stolen from Kongo-Kongo Market in Juba on the fifth of this month.”

“The Division was also able to arrest the main suspect and five other individuals, and they are currently under investigation. The accident that occurred by opening the shop from the roof and returning the stolen items is considered a policy achievement.”

On Monday, a video footage widely shared online showed officers captured the tracking of a stolen phone live using a computer software.
