At least six suspects have been arrested by police in Yambio for committing minor criminal offences during the festive season.

According to the commissioner of Yambio County, Mbiko Barakat the suspects include youth ranging from the age of 18-27.

He stated that the youngsters were accused of stealing property during the celebrations.

This was after the government collaborated with the youth, local chiefs, and women leaders to trace criminalities within the country.

According to the authorities, the six suspects have been remanded to the prison facilities awaiting trial.

Commissioner Barakat told Eye Radio on yesterday that, despite the minor criminal cases, the county remained peaceful during the Christmas celebrations.

He calls on the residents to observe the same state of peaceful coexistence.

“We have managed to arrest so many suspects who have been stealing. we have arrested many of them and they are now in prison,” Commissioner Mbiko said.

“We have six in prison. Two, I just arrested some five days ago and they are also remanded to the prison, they are waiting to go for their trial,” he said.
