The Greater Pibor Administrative Area has handed over 5 abducted children to the government of Central Equatoria State.

The recovered children 4 are from Central Equatoria and 1 from Eastern Equatoria.

Speaking upon the handover of the children, the Deputy Chief of Pibor Administrative Area, John Abula says the authorities in the area had to confront the abductors to recover the children.

He adds that the Authorities in Pibor issued an order to combat child abductors and as a result, 16 abducted children were recovered as of the beginning of 2024.

Abula called for collaboration between Pibor and Central Equatoria to address the issue of abduction rather than generalizing the whole community.

“We are facing so many challenges to recover those kids was not easy because we are confronted with the abductors, because they gang themselves with groups and they do not stay with their families they stay with the groups,” said Abula.

“To identify a child, it needs more reports so that you send troops to fight with them and that is how you will get a child,” he said.

“We are making a campaign, our leadership issued an order that this year let it be a year for combating child abductors and indeed we started from January up to now we recovered more than 16 abducted children.

“What we wanted from you is that we put our hands together to fight criminals instead of generalizing the entire community, we need to single out the criminals”.

For her part, the deputy governor of Central Equatoria Sarah Nene welcomed the gesture from the Pibor Administrative area.

Nene reiterated the call for cooperation between the two governments to recover abducted children.

“Today [Friday] we are very grateful because our children have been brought from Pibor. The children are five,4 from Central Equatoria and 1 from Eastern Equatoria,” said Nene.

“I thank the chief administrator and the deputy Administrator who brought the children. Let us continue with this spirit to recover our children from Pibor,” she said.

“These few criminals together we will be able to overcome them, the governments of Central Equatoria and Pibor so let us continue with this spirit”.
