The authorities in Juba County apprehended 40 suspected land grabbers, including military officers on Friday in Molubur of Lado Payam.

Charles Wani revealed that those 40 criminals are working against the law in South Sudan.

He told the press that those forty criminals would be taken to face the law because they were involved in the illegal land allocations in the Molubur area of Lado Payam.

This week, the Commissioner of Juba in Central Equatoria State appeals to the Chief of Defense Force to take action against senior army generals who are grabbing lands in the county.

Charles Joseph Wani accuses some senior generals and top government officials of grabbing public lands in Mangala, Rejaf Luri, and Molubur.

He called on Defense Chief General Santino Deng Wol to discipline individual generals who were involved in the illegal land allocations in the area.

“Today [Friday, March 1, 2024] as you know the day before yesterday, I was here, and I talked about the issue of land grabbing which is happening here. We are now in the implementation of that order,” said Wani.

“We have arrested 40 criminals in various capacities. We don’t know where they are coming from in South Sudan, but they have gone against the law,” he said.

“Since they acted against the law, we have to arrest them and the court is ready for them.

“They will be charged with the law and immediately they will be apprehended at the national prison.”

Right groups say land-grabbing remains a security threat committed by senior army and national security generals in South Sudan.
