Police in Northern Bahr El Ghazal said a public prosecutor has decided to drop adultery charges against a youth leader in Aweil town, and revoked the warrant of arrest, in what the accused refers to as lack of evidence.

The state police spokesperson, Captain Guot Guot Akol said the chairperson of the state youth union, Tito Awan Bol has been accused of kidnapping an unnamed woman and committing adultery in May this year.

A public prosecutor in the state issued an arrest warrant against Bol on October 13, a week after his election as a youth leader.

According to Captain Akol, the arrest warrant was issued in accordance with section 273 (Kidnapping or Abducting in Order to Subject a Person to Grievous Hurt) and 266 (Adultery).

However, the security official said the warrant of arrest did not reach the police for implementation and the prosecutor decided to revoke it on Monday.

“Unfortunately, the arrest warrant did not reach the police for the implementation and the same public prosecute on date 17TH dropped the charges against Tito Awan Bol and revoked the arrest warrant before its implementation,” he said.

“So police, however, did not attempt whatsoever to look for Tito Awan Bol because the alleged case and charges were dropped before the issue was implemented by the police.

When contacted by Eye Radio, the newly elected youth leader said the adultery charges against him were dropped due to lack of evidence.

“Yesterday, we went to the judiciary and those judges look at this case and there’s no prove on it, and therefore they have canceled it and dismissed,” said Bol.

He told Eye Radio that, judge has found no evidence and proof on the case that was opened against him in May this year.

“There’s no prove at all, and there’s nothing like that because there’s no evidence could make this case against me. It was dismissed, because it was baseless, and that’s why there’s nothing going on.”
