Authorities in Northern Bahr El-Ghazal have appealed to NGOs operating in the state, to follow the official procedures for handing over assets before they leave.

The commissioner of Aweil East County Awet Kiir Awet urged international NGOs to follow legal procedures of dealing with their assets when their projects end.

He says the NGOs should make it clear if there is an agreement for assets to remain in the community at the end of a project, or they assets be handed over to the government.

Mr. Awet said Save The Children organization failed to hand over a drilling machine, which he says should have been left for the state.

However, Save The Children representative, Garang Mathaing, says they have included all their assets in an inventory, and says he does not have an explanation of the whereabouts of the drill.

He says they will follow up this issue with their senior management before taking any decision.
