Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni on Wednesday met the head of Rapid Support Forces (RSF) General Mohamed Hamdan Daglo popularly known as Hemetti, Reuters reports.

Uganda’s presidency said Museveni met with Gen. Dagalo at his country home in Rwakitura, Kiruhura District.

“The two leaders discussed, among other things, ways to put an end to the continued conflict in Sudan,” the statement from State House added.

In a statement released from Kampala, Hemetti disclosed his meeting with President Museveni, saying they discussed recent developments in Sudan and the resulting suffering of the Sudanese people.

Dagalo, whose whereabouts during the war have been unknown, said on X the two discussed developments in Sudan, as well as his vision for negotiations to end the war.

Sudan’s army and the RSF have been locked since mid-April in a conflict that has devastated the capital Khartoum and other parts of the country.
